The Hunt

Last year Myles asked me 'Why don't we hunt eggs at our house?' And that stuck with me the whole year! I always make sure we have an Easter egg hunt, and I guess I take for granted that the Grandparents do baskets and the kids will be okay with just that! Myles comment made me think differently. This year (even though it wasn't until midday Easter Sunday) each kid, inlcuding Dane, got a basket! And secretly we even were able to hide some eggs in the front yard! The kids were thrilled with the baskets and the eggs, and I was thrilled to give them the joy of hunting for eggs. The simple joys holidays bring make being a parent more special! The excuse to get your child a gift they are asking for.... and for a reason! And, then there is the religous aspect, a way to celebrate the faith. And then gathering withe family. This year we were able to share Easter dinner with a few relatives we don't get to see often. My Aunt Perce (Chicago) and Cousing Broc (Texas) were in town for the Final Four games in Indy. So we were able to spend some time with them! And Saturday we spent time with Seth's family. So it was a family filled weekend!

My Boys

Look at these two handsome boys! This was a rather candid moment in which Dane was climbing on Myles. Myles suggested I take a picture! I'm so glad he did, look at the cute, adorable faces! Myles loves having a baby brother! Dane is coming at a time in Myles life in which he could easily be upset at the added chaos of having a baby brother, instead he embraces Dane and loves him dearly! I do think Dane is starting to admire his older siblings, too! He watches Myles and Elliott each time they enter and leave the room, checking out their faces, responding to the crazy antics! It's so neat to watch the bond between these kiddos grow each da y!

A swingin good time...

Wow, does Dane love the swings! This is his first time in the swings, ever.... and he was all smiles. Normally babies seem to cry when the wind takes their breath away with each swing. Dane LOVED it! He laughed and smiled the whole time. I guess I know where we will be spending many Spring and Summer days!

My baby is ONE!

Wow, what an exciting year! Dane came out a 6.5 lb baby and has grown into a nearly 20 lb one-yr-old. Changes galore this child has gone through! Dane has been a great addition to this family! Enjoy his newsletter and s ome of these photos as a glimpse into his young life!

A cool new bike

Much thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Taylor, Myles now can sport around on a really cool new bike! It is a Tony Hawk trick bike... not that Myles is going to be doing lots of tricks anytime soon, he still has to learn how to ride without traning wheels! However, the trick spokes on the back make a nice platform for SEth to assist in teaching Myles how to ride his bike! Birthday's are always so much fun, especially when you can get new cool things like this, lots of Lego Sets, Lego games, cake and other fun things!

A Lego Space Police Party

Myles has always had parties at home, and never asked to have a party at some fancy place with bounce houses or really expensive pizzas. So the past few years, I've tried to come up with creative options (last year was Popcorn and a MOive, and the year before was Arts and Crafts), so this year, again, he had no interest in venturing out to an elaborate facility! So, I, again, had to think of something creative. So, I came up with a Lego party. I combined his gifts and party into one. I got him several Lego sets from one particular theme, Lego Space Police! I then sent invites (looking like small paper briefcases with confidential on the outside) with missions to complete! The boys all had a great time playing with the Legos and creating their own missions! Thanks to the neighbor boy, the big sets were built ahead of time! And then it was time for singing and cake, and Myles sure enough had his ears covered, for some reason he despises the song Happy Birthday, and it doesn't even have to be sang to him. He doesn't like it at any time! His friends and him enjoyed laughing at the candle that did not blow out. After three or four times trying to blow the candle out, they started fanning the flame. Then it was time for the adults to take away the candle!!! It was so funny watching them laugh in amazement as the candle relit each time it was blown out.

After the kid party it was the family party! Just one big day of parties! I wouldn't have it any other way. My morning actually started out with a scrapbook event in Noblesville, which was so much fun. On the first Saturday of each month we meet in Noblesville at the Logan Village Mall for a short project (for complete details visit www.projectscrapbook.net). It was great to see the return customers and meet some new ones!
